Grigeo Tissue has become the first private company in Lithuania to obtain the prestigious Preferred by Nature Sustainability Certificate, which meets the requirements of the European Union Deforestation and Degradation Regulation (EUDR).
This exceptional achievement confirms Grigeo Tissue's high sustainability standards and strong commitment to environmental principles in its operations. Although, depending on the type and category of the company, the EUDR requirements will only become mandatory for Grigeo Tissue at the end of 2025 or mid-2026, the company decided not to wait, and to stay one step ahead of the curve, initiating the certification process well in advance of the deadline.
"We take sustainability principles very seriously and see EUDR as an integral part of our sustainability strategy. Early preparation not only gives us a competitive advantage but also allows us to accumulate valuable experience and knowledge before the regulation comes into force," says General Manager of Grigeo Tissue, Almantas Tamošiūnas.
The certification process helps to meet future legal requirements and also raises the quality of the company's operations to an exceptionally high level. Together with experts from Preferred by Nature, the company has implemented the highest international standards to confirm that the raw materials used are responsibly sourced, fully traceable and fully compliant with the latest EU environmental requirements.
This certification sends a clear signal to customers, partners and the industry community that sustainability is not just an aspiration for the Grigeo Group, but a long-term and consistent commitment.
